- Throat space — The gap between the needle and the machine's upright body sets how much rolled-up quilt can pass through it. The HC1850 has more stitches, 185 including 55 alphanumeric, and is rated to 850 stitches per minute against the CS7000X's 750; Brother lists a start/stop button for it and not for the CS7000X. The CS7000X includes what the HC1850 does not: a walking foot, a quarter-inch foot, a quilt guide and a hard cover. For quilting through batting, that walking foot is the deciding item.
